i am not sure if my lawyer has the receipts. my case was sent on 6.29.2007 and received on july 2nd.
i got my FP notice (for my wife also) yesterday in mail for 9/25 appt.
from the receipt number on FP notice i checked it on USCIS website. it says that they received the 485 app on 30 aug. and the LUD on 485 is 9/3.
sent Jun 29th, recieved Jul 2nd at TSC. Got FP notice for 10/03. Lawyer recieved Reciepts yesterday with Notice Date of 09/05. LUD was 9/3. Website says they recieved app 30 aug (did not make sense to me). Lawyer further told me i will get EAD Card directly before they will recieve approval notice. Today, four members of IV met with 3 staffers from Dianne Feinstein�s office in San Francisco.
Two constituent services representatives, who deal with immigration problems on a daily basis (helping people with labor cert, I-140, I-485, security check etc problems) and one assistant field representative who interfaces with the Senator�s staff in DC on a whole host of issues.
We spent 1.5 hours with them. We went through our presentation, answering questions and giving examples all the way. Then we spent some time talking about how they could help us, suggestions about what IV should do, and how we could work with them. All in all it was an excellent meeting � they were riveted through out � asked lots of questions and were very supportive.
TAKEAWAYS

How about an apology from an Indian Prime Minister saying he is sorry that you were born in India and are not able to get greencard.
Why should USCIS apologize to you? Did USCIS force you to apply for Greencard?
I agree with rajuram. We are all tax payers. The whole concept of democracy is taxation with representation. People who get paid from my tax dollars are answerable to me as much as they are to anyone else. Even when cis is not forcing me to file gc, its still equally answerable to me for my tax dollars to tell me why they are not doing their jobs properly. And for that cis owes us all apology. What's wrong with that?

I you're right about that! At least that takes all this immigration stuff off my plate. It would be nice not to have to worry about having to go back to a country I don't even know anymore. I came to the US (legally) when I was 10 and now im approaching my mid 20s. I don't think the DREAM act if passed would even apply to me.. which is BS but that's another discussion all together.
Anyways... I would still like someone to give me a more definitive answer about possibly qualifying for EB2. My impression is that since most people my level have a Masters and it was an implied requirement that could be substituted with a Masters equivalent than wouldn't it stand to reason that I have a great shot at EB2. It's impossible to get a CPA License in my state without having a Masters in accounting or a Bachelor's degree ant 150 credits + experience. It's not "unskilled labor". The CFA is even crazier.

There are no plans for extended vacation.
I thought the 3 year h1b extension after 140 approval is a one time deal and there would be no further extensions :confused: .

Ask your future employer to apply new H1B with consular processing(no change of status).
Wait till you get the H1B approval ,book an appointment at US consulate(preferably home country)and get stamping.As everyone mentioned you cannot work till you get I-797 and get stamping.

A sincere request to all our members. Before demanding a response from the core group, we hope you do more research on your flash thoughts. All the core group members have a full time job and are doing this in our free time apart from work and family. Given that it is crunch time in the Senate, we really don't have the time now to respond to all queries.

Hello all,
Anyone knows if there is a certain length of time that I need to be employed with my GC sponsor after 485 approval?

I am trying to book an appointment at the chennai consulate through the vfs website.
I fill in all the details on the DS 156 application and on hitting continue I do not seem to be getting the printable version with the bar code that we need to print and take to the consulate during the interview.
Another thing is after clicking on continue I am presented with a page to fill in the DS 157 and petition details and after filling that, I just get options to save and exit or go back.
I am not getting options to select a date to schedule the interview.
Any one who has done this recently please hlep, I am stuck witth this stupid thing for a couple of days now.... Please help ;(

make sure you have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed
I recently (july) took an appointment for my relatives and saw a similar behavior - got an empty page after i hit submit - noticed that Acrobat Reader had been uninstalled recently...then I noticed
that for some reason had better luck when using IE (was trying with Firefox before)

There is no problem at India's end..we all know how to handle that. Also, it does matter if there are 2 bags or 1 from here. If I have 3 extra bags, then I end up paying more...rather than assuming that they will be checked in free. You pack your luggage accordingly assuming x no of bags are involved. Also, I will make sure my wife travels comfortably, that's why i am asking these questions in the first place.

I�m in EB2 and My I-140 was approved September 2008 through Employer A. And I got laid off on November 2009 from EMP A, within 15 days I joined another Employer B. As per policy, employer B is not going to file GC for me. Already I spend 5 years on my H1B. I check with EMP A�s HR dept, they will not revoke my I-140 and H1B. I know AC21 is one of the options to transfer (Portability) my PD to Emp B after apply I-485.
It would be great if I get answer the below my Question:
1. If my PD is current, Will I eligible to apply I-485 using Employer A I-140 approved?
2. What are the documents needed from employer A, if I want apply I-485?
3. All my friends telling me, I can apply I-485, Is it true?

Hello there
I am student from Tri-valley university. On Jan 20th the college got shut down. I am working on CPT. I came to know about the shut down through my friends, with whom immigration officers met. Although no immigration officers contacted me by any means, my friends suggested me to look for another college and get enrolled as soon as within 30 days. While I tried to enroll in another college, I came to know that still the sevis is not yet released. Until the college releases our sevis, we are unable to enroll in any other college. We are elible to work only if we enroll into the college, get an I-20 and CPT. Now I am worried because until they release our sevis, the admissions in other colleges will meet deadline and what happens if they no more take admissions. Do you have any idea how long can it take for them to release our sevis ? Will it be safe for students like me hereafter to work fulltime on CPT ?

USCIS systems that the generic CS rep sees or the CLAIMS3 systems that the IO sees doesn't have any info about AC21 docs that you sent them.
Like someone suggested it is a very good idea to keep the original attorney (might not happen in all cases such as when your other company is a direct competitor. Depends on the lawyer). I did the same did not have to pay anything to my attorney to maintain my file.
I sent my AC21 docs to NSC against the advise of my attorney (I surmised that that I would waste time and money if USCIS ever sends a EVL RFE). I think that was a good decision as I got the I-485 approved soon.
Also I see from the FOIA request that I made, that the AC21 docs that I sent were indeed in my file when the decision on my file was made.

whether the incident is true or not, IV member is trying caution everybody that all should be very careful when handing over their passport to a third person. We should be fully focused when an officer examines our passport.
Very true - you would think such things don't happen (and they probably don't) - but one should always be attentive at Airports.
