I'm a gun person ...
I, on the other hand, am very anti-gun.
However, even I got a chuckle out of the bumper that read, Guns kill people, like spoons made Rosie O'Donnell fat.
But then I thought about it ... spoons are eating utensils ... perhaps we should call guns killing utensils.

The Apple store onine and the retail stores are not offering double dicounts...you will have to choose the sale price OR your education / corporate discount. If you found a location that gives both, they aren't following the published guidelines. Good for you, but it doesn't mean the other locations will follow suite.

this case reminds me of the "apple walk of shame" last year, or the "p-p-p-powerbook case" back in 2004 (in the sense that you tell the story on the internet and other people give you suggestions, or share sympathy, or blah blah blah).
at first i was gonna reply to this thread, but i decided not to. but now it's so big it even made its way to Digg. so i'm 99% sure you won't get your box back.
not saying you're not careful (or negligent, whatever), but making such a big case out of it, and hoping there is no way the thieves would hear a thing about it... come on. even if there is a chance the thieves don't visit this site, their friends might do (or their friends' friends... and so on). fact is, it doesn't even have to be this site. it's all over google now. just type in "steal xbox" and the link to this topic will pop out right there. heck, who knows if tomorrow it'll be on CNN.
you can't expect to pull off things like the p-p-p-powerbook prank while spilling information all over the place. sometimes it's good to spread the story. but definitely not this time. i suggest this topic being erased (or hidden) until the case is solved.
just my 0.02.

Well you're two comments are linked.
Both my comments refer to the look. Windows 7 looks like a bad Enlightenment theme. Anyway, the "translucent" plastic was ripped off KDE 4.x (which is true, look at plasma), which while not sharing the bad hack ridden architecture of the 90s version enlightenment does seem to share the look of its themes.
Context. Is. Everything.
All these months, and again you try to argue with me over what I meant. New Zealanders really have a problem with the concept of "I know better what I meant that you do and it was clearly posted had you followed the context".

I managed scrape together enough money together for a 20 incher and a mini last year (1000). They gave me the wrong box (a 23") which was the nicest thing thats ever happened to me.
Its a lovely screen, but the colours are all over the place (and people should be very wary when using front row with the macbook linked to a cinema - for some reason it doesnt go to sleep, and this could lead to some nasty screen burn.)
A decent screen is a big investment - you would expect a good LCD to last you at least 5 years if your paying a grand for it. At the moment, Dell's is much better value in my book, even though it is hideously ugly.
Anyone tried the new NECs?

Record companies should count themselves lucky that there's an iTunes, Spotify and others offering paid services - otherwise 99.999999999% would be pirating all music and they wouldn't make a dime.
Gone are the days where they can charge 14 for a CD album and filling it with 12 crap songs and 1 decent song. People see through the BS and choose to bypass physical music buying and just cherry pick the tunes that they like.

your correct, based on Steve Jobbs response to this which was pure BS we can never trust that the files do NOT get sent out.
Apple has been open about collecting location data. However that does does not come from consolidated.db. The database that everyone is talking about is data sent FROM Apple TO your phone. Why would Apple collect the data that they sent to you?
The issue is that if your phone is compromised by a third party, this DB could be used to infer information about your location (you location is not directly stored in the DB). The changes being made reduce this risk by shortening the cache and encrypting the data.

Show me another phone that can drop calls from just the position of one finger. Nokia have their problems at the moment, but their reception has always been rock solid.
As for people being surprised at Apple's childishness, have you forgotten about the douchetastic "I'm a Mac campaign".
I can't, but my iPhone 4 hasn't dropped any of my calls, my 3G use to drop calls 2 or 3 calls a month.

To access the Govt employee store go to apple.com, click on Stores, scroll to the bottom and look for "Visit other Apple Stores around the world", on the drop list choose "US Government". From here you have to click on the agreements that you are eligible to use that store.:D

I think it's another great photoshop using the iPad as the source. I'm hoping for a better camera with flash in the next iPhone. I wouldn't like the square edges and I don't think Apple will give that up. The text is slanted wrong on the third image, the post with a real iPhone a few back doesn't disprove this. The text looks slanted normal on this one. If you duplicate the original image angle and distance more perfectly it would be more obvious.
But what do I care? I'm going to go with a Sprint 4G phone in June anyways.

If this is the case then everyone should be complaining to every single cell phone manufacturer and demand a recall from them too. I don't hear or see that, though.
Oh you silly goose... that is because every other manufacturer's phones are not dropping calls... that is just one of the new things the iPhone is "changing again." It's funny because I've owned dozens and dozens of phones throughout the years including the iPhone 2G, 3G and 3GS and never experienced this garbage...

Ok, Mr. Intelligent. It's been 3 years since the original iPhone launched. Perhaps Apple found a way to make a phone out of aluminum or a similar material, without affecting performance? Also, the iPad is made out of aluminum, yet it uses 3G service. You're acting like you know for sure what will happen, and you don't. None of us do.
The iPad has a black strip if you hadn't noticed, much like the original iPhone.

Fake. Display looks like paper / printed.
It looks like a retina display to me. People often thought the display was paper on first glance on the demo units after the iPhone 4 announcement.
Doesn't the status bar look taller? I remember a thread on here talking about how they overheard engineers discussing iOS 5 and that was one of the things that would be different. It was going to allow for an SBSettings type of thing and maybe a place for notifications to scroll? Anyways, cool. But I think this is fake.
It looks about the same as my iPhone 4's status bar.

Sure it is. I find your particular brand of narrow-mindedness offensive. Therefore it is an affront.

I say again, the Mac App Store has depressed the sales volume and gross in my category for everyone. This is not a success in the sense of encouraging a vibrant and growing Mac software market. I felt that before the Mac App Store opened that the Mac software market was reaching a critical mass and that developers found it increasingly attractive.
Part of the previous appeal of the Mac software market to developers was the fact that Apple customers would accept increased costs for Mac software titles just as Apple charges a premium for its hardware because "it is worth it." Developers could coattail onto this and therefore ask higher prices for Mac software as compared to equivalent titles on other OS's.
Once the Mac App Store opened, that premium pricing advantage was wiped out overnight. Apple customers now expect to pay less just as the mobile App Store has reduced app pricing -- and in many cases expecting equivalent prices from the iPhone to the Mac desktop.
Do not underestimate this effect on developer's bottom lines.

Same with me. its all about location. I have AT&T (iPhone) and Verizon (BB Storm), both drop calls, where i have coverage on one, i dont on the other and vice versa. So to say one has better coverage or not, its hard to point in the right direction. Really... As long as i can make a call im good, I had perfect coverage 2 days ago on the Storm and the network wasnt working, while my iPhone had 1 bar on 3G and no issues.
But its a cool commerical, I like how they are only talking about 3G coverage not over all service coverage, kind of makes Verizon look better. Then again...who is struggling for not having the iPhone?
I would NOT characterize Verizon as struggling. Now Sprint on the other hand is struggling.
